Description

On Veterans Day -- Friday, November 10, 2017 -- the Union League Club of Chicago (ULCC), ULCC American Legion Post 758 and the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs will present a special event honoring veterans of the Vietnam War. The Union League Club of Chicago is proudly presenting this program as an Official Commemorative Partner of the U.S. Department of Defense Vietnam War Commemoration recognizing all veterans of that conflict and their families.

Our event begins with registration in the Club's lobby at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception and program in the 2nd floor Main Lounge. Guests will enjoy refreshments while perusing information from resource tables staffed by representatives of organizations serving veterans, including the John Marshall Law School's Veterans Legal Support Center and many others. The program features presentation of the official Dept. of Defense Vietnam War Commemorative Pin to Vietnam veterans in attendance, a performance by cadets of the West Point Glee Club, and a keynote address by Acting Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy, who will be introduced by Erica Jeffries, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. We will adjourn by 12:30 p.m.

Our "Salute To Vietnam Veterans" is open to all veterans of the Vietnam War who served on active duty from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975 (regardless of the location of service) and their family members. We also will present Certificates of Honor to surviving spouses of Vietnam veterans; if you are a surviving spouse, please register using the Surviving Spouse ticket option. In addition, subject to availability, we are offering to Vietnam veterans who participate in our Nov. 10 program complimentary parking that day in the self-park garage next to the ULCC.

We want to honor all Vietnam veterans throughout the Chicagoland region! Prior registration is required so that we can have an accurate count of who will be attending. If you know a Vietnam veteran (or the surviving spouse of a Vietnam veteran) who would like to join us, please invite them to RSVP at https://vietnamvets.eventbrite.com.

PLEASE NOTE: the Union League Club of Chicago maintains a "business casual" dress code (i.e., no jeans, denim or athletic wear, please). For more information, please call the Public Affairs office at (312) 435-5946.
